So I wasnt completely sure about the idea of people dying due to gaming addiction to online communities and characters but yep, its true.
I found numerous articles which go on to talk about people that have either died or neglected children due to their engrossment in the game they are playing or lives they are living online.
S Korean dies after games session is an article from the BBC which talks about how a 27 year old Korean man died after 50 hours of basically non stop gaming. Its quite interesting as a professor Mark Griffiths says that these online games are " the types of games that completely engross the player. They are not games that you can play for 20 minutes and stop".
Another article Korean press picks up tale of tragedy when couple plays World of Warcraft to excess, infant perishes from neglect goes on to discuss how a couple managed to neglect their child due to playing WOW and getting so immersed in it that they literally forgot.
The reason Im posting this is that I found it really interesting that most of these cases are in Korea. I know that it is very technologically advanced, but why is it that the Koreans are getting so immersed in their online communities that it is leading to death? Any thoughts??
